TwinkleBob grew out of a desire to make the most of the internet. It seemed that the internet was an easy way to make money, and I wanted in on that. However, I have since learnt that the internet isn't necessarily as lucrative as it first appears, in order to make the money it takes a good idea and a lot of work. It seems to me the best way to make any reasonable amount of money is to spread your interests a little.
I started with a dream to make webpages for Christian groups at prices well below those of other larger web-development companies. This company was originally called Flytrap¿ (which came from an even earlier website group I had at school) however there were no domains left by this name so FLYhome.co.uk was purchased (intended to be Flytrap-Home). Eventually this evolved into FLYhome, a distinct entity all of it's own.
I was also doing non-Christian websites and, in an attempt to keep these separate, I bought TwinkleBob.co.uk to host those on. Since I want to have other businesses this has eventually become the umbrella name for them all, although I cannot remember where the name originally came from.
FLYhome, it struck me, was not a very professional name for Christian websites and didn't really say what I was doing, so a new identity was thought up for this part of the business: "The Web For Christ" (which is both our name and our mission) and accordingly a new domain was purchased, TW4C.org.uk.
FLYhome has now become the home of non-Christian web-development, and through that I offer both design and management services. With time this domain will be phased out, and this part of the business will become TwinkleBob Web Development.
As a small aside business, I have started selling some merchandise of my own designs on the internet, both through an American company called CaféPress and through a European company called Spreadshirt. Details of these shops can be seen in the services section of this site.
That is where the company rests at the moment, although at some point in the future I would like to branch out into more sales - probably books and/or electronic equipment. There may also be an introduction of consultancy services at some point in the future, along with the potential for a multimedia installation service (TwinkleBob Audio-Visual Services).
